The HEIRS TO THE FUTURE PROJECT fwas developed to operate in the south region of the City of São Paulo in order to initially care for 36 families per month, focusing especially on children up to 12 years old. The program selects children sheltered in associated entities who are directed by Guardianship Councils and the Judiciary Power.

Initially, cases will be attended by the Social Service Sector. This screening is made through three meetings, depending on the expert’s evaluation. Once the interviews are carried out, the cases will be discussed with the Psychology Team so that together may decide on the best referral, taking into consideration not only the type of referral but who is the most adequate therapist to care for a specific case.

The cases will be attended from six months to two years at the most. This period was evaluated in this way taking into account that our moves will be preventive and intervening ones. This way of working is based on the very clear identification of the aspects to be worked out in each case. Such mental aspects preclude the child, the adolescent and their families from thriving.
